Hello,

I am trying to find information about Johan/John A Danielson, my great grandfather.

Here is what I know:

Born 12/14/1847 in Sweden.
Died 4/5/1924 Barnes County, North Dakota, USA
Buried: Bethel Swedish Cemetery, Twin Valley, Norman County, Minnesota, USA

Lived in Norman County, Minnesota, in the cities of Ada, Lake Ida, and Twin Valley.

His (second) wife was Maria, who emigrated in 1887 with son Andrew.

They had (at least) 5 children: Andrew (1883, Sweden), Oscar, Milo, Agnes, Maria, and Ellen (all born in the US).

Milo (1896-1973) was my grandfather, my mother's father.

The Swedish Immigration Record that I believe is Johannes' is as follows:

Name: Johannes Danielson
Birth Year: abt 1847
Gender: Man (Male)
Place of Origin: Långserud Värmland Län, Sverige
Destination: Ada
Record Date: 13 apr 1883
Port of Departure: Göteborg
Database Name: EmiHamn
Archive Call Number: 22:382:17231
Traveling Companion: M
Principal Person: Danielson Johannes

This could have been his second trip to and from Sweden. US Census Records state that he arrived in 1874. Oral history has it that after his first wife and two sons died of typhoid (in the US), he went back to Sweden. Note this emigration date (1883) makes sense as it is a few months after his son Andrew was born, in Sweden.

Another note from family stories: when he first came to the US (in 1874), he worked in Michigan in the mines with his wife's brother "Hans".

I would like to find his mother and father's names, dates and birthplaces, any siblings. And any other information or guidance.

Thank you.

Pat Owen
