Det är suffix, de heter inte så, det är inte en del av deras namn, lika lite som "den yngre" elle "den äldre" är en del av namnet.
"Usually the notation “Jr.” or “2nd” just meant that someone else with the same name lived in the same town and was older. That was really all there was to it. They could be father and son, uncle and nephew, first cousins, or not related at all. The suffix of the “3rd” meant that there were two older people in the town with the same name. En Jr blir alltså Sr när någon äldre i familjen med samma namn dör och det finns en ytterligare yngre i släkten som går från nr III till att bli Jr ... Eftersom suffixen inte är en del av namnet skriver jag om det förekommer in det som textnotis.
