My direct patriarchal ancestry comes from this area. My grandfather emigrated to the USA in 1911 and listed his father's place of residence being from Umea or Nytorp in Degerfors. His names was Olof Olofsson (he anglicized his name to Nels Olson when he arrived in the USA) son of Olof Israelsson and Maria Mathilda Persdotter.
